I recently published a study in Child Development Perspectives on the topic of children and conversational technologies. The paper, “Talking with Machines: Can Conversational Technologies Serve as Children’s Social Partners?” examines the current understanding of the impact of AI on child development.

It investigates how children interact, perceive, and learn from these technologies and their potential to serve as social partners. The paper suggests the need for further research to fully understand the relationship between children, their social environment, and technology. This will ensure that conversational technologies are integrated in a way that enhances children’s development and provides meaningful learning experiences.
